Anni is a Legal Expert in the Refugee Legal Aid Clinic.

Anni Säär is an Estonian national, and has been working as a legal expert in Estonian Human Rights Centre since September 2011 (first 8 months as an intern). She holds law degree from Tallinn University of Technology – Bachelor of Arts in Law, Master of Arts in Law and Technology (cum laude). Her main areas of expertise include fundamental rights, migration and refugee law.

Ms Säär has been also a legal expert in project “Enhancing Advocacy Work in the Area of Asylum – and Refugee Policy” in which she made two analyses – detention of asylum seekers in Estonia and asylum seekers access to state free legal aid. She is also a visiting lecturer at Tallinn University of Technology, where she teaches Rights, Obligations and Liability of the Actors on the Internet, Contract Law and Legal Aspects of Information Technology (together with another lecturer). Ms Säär has undergone UNHCR/ICJ joint workshop regarding protection from refoulement and the right to an effective remedy under the European Convention on Human Rights in 2012, ENAR training on hate crimes as well as other trainings regarding refugee law.

Ms Säär has represented Human Rights Centre on the EU Civil Society Platform against Trafficking in Human Beings (since its beginning in 2013 until the end of 2016). Ms Säär has been the co-author of two academic articles regarding IT law and a researcher in some reports (ENAR Shadow report 2014-2015, 2015-2016 (national researcher), Estonian Human Rights Centre annual reports (parts of rights of refugees and asylum seekers 2013, 2014-2015).
