During Annetamistalgud (the Estonian version of Giving Tuesday) held yesterday, nearly 1000 euros were donated to support the activities of the Estonian Human Rights Centre. With Swedbank’s amplification, a total of 1474 euros were deposited into the Centre’s account. We called for donations in support of human rights, sharing stories of the Centre’s daily work with our followers on social media.
Who can a child or young person turn to if they feel they have become a victim of harassment? Who has the right to seek asylum from the Estonian state? Where should a refugee family with same-sex parents turn to ensure their child’s safety? How to protect personal data from online threats? Why fight against gender stereotypes in the workplace?
These are just a few examples of the issues the Centre’s staff have dealt with this year. As a watchdog of society, we must respond daily to what is happening around us. When changes are large and unexpected, or when a court case becomes a strategic matter, we need support to meet expectations. The contribution of donors is invaluable in such situations.
The Estonian Human Rights Centre is the only independent expert in the field of human rights, advocating for the rights of every individual. Thank you to everyone who found the opportunity to support us during the donation drive! A big thanks to all our regular donors! You can always join the ranks of our supporters here.
Since you are here...
It is important to protect everyone’s human rights, because it helps to keep stability and peace in the society. There are many challenges for protection of human rights in Estonia: intolerance has really come out of the closet. Bad things happen when good people are too passive, but together we can make a change.
Estonian Human Rights Centre is the competent, accountable and impactful independent human rights organisation in Estonia. Your recurring or one-time donation helps to stand up for human rights everywhere: in courts, in the media, in schools, in the workplace, on the streets and in governmental venues.
Donating is easy, and you can use your credit card if donating from abroad.
