In March 2013 EHRC became a national co-ordinator of European Legal Network on Asylum (ELENA) that is a network under European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE).
ELENA is a forum for over 500 legal practitioners who aim to promote the highest human rights standards for the treatment of refugees, asylum seekers and other persons in need of international protection in their counselling and advocacy work.
ELENA facilitates networking and exchange of information, comparative research and legal training as well as contributes invaluable information to the policy and advocacy work by ECRE and its members.
The work of ELENA is coordinated by the ECRE Secretariat in Brussels in continuous and close consultation with the 29 ELENA National Coordinators comprising of practising legal advisors from a range of European countries.
More information as well as the list of legal practitioners involved is available on our website: http://www.ecre.org/topics/elena/index.html
The network currently has the coordinators in 25 of 27 EU Member States and the intention is to expand it to all the Member States. The coordinators are also able to ask the network to distribute information relevant to them and assist with the finding the information they require for their national work as well as identify the topics of research and training that could be beneficial for their respective agencies.
Since you are here...
It is important to protect everyone’s human rights, because it helps to keep stability and peace in the society. There are many challenges for protection of human rights in Estonia: intolerance has really come out of the closet. Bad things happen when good people are too passive, but together we can make a change.
Estonian Human Rights Centre is the competent, accountable and impactful independent human rights organisation in Estonia. Your recurring or one-time donation helps to stand up for human rights everywhere: in courts, in the media, in schools, in the workplace, on the streets and in governmental venues.
Donating is easy, and you can use your credit card if donating from abroad.
