Equal Treatment

The equal treatment principle means that people are not discriminated  on the basis on some characteristics that they have been assigned. The Equal Treatment Act identifies 8 characteristics:

  • nationality (ethnical origin)
  • race
  • skin color
  • religious or other beliefs
  • age
  • disability
  • sexual orientation
In case of discrimination it is important to observe that there would be a hindsight of two people in similar circumstances. For example:
  • man and woman
  • younger and older person
  • sexual orientation: LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi- and transsexual) and other
  • estonian and other nationality
  • etc…
